This Victorian house built circa 1875 was damaged by a fire in the neighboring house.
The heat from the fire completely baked the paint, causing it to crack and change color.
Paint was stripped using a combination of effective and safe techniques.
Stripping techniques included aggressive hand scraping, infra-red stripper tools, and special power sanders connected to HEPA vacuums.
To ensure a solid substrate for proper paint adhesion, all areas were power sanded after paint stripping to remove a thin residue that was baked into the surface.
The clear finish on the doors which was blackened and cracked by the fire, was restored using a combination of chemical strippers, hand scraping, and sanding.
One full prime coat and two full overcoats were applied to the entire house.
