“The cabinets look beautiful! And your guys working here were so nice, careful, considerate, and patient with my dogs!... it also was truly a pleasure coordinating the project with you-there was NO stress involved! I will certainly let Crownpoint know how happy I am but also please always feel free to use me as a reference. ”

Window restoration is really the ultimate “green” solution in spite of what the large window replacement companies say. When restored properly by Masterwork those old windows will be energy efficient, safe, and will outlast a new replacement window. Older windows have stronger, more durable wood, more reliable sliding mechanisms, and there are no worries about seals of double paned glass failing and causing fogging between the glass panes. In addition, the cost of restoration is much less than the total cost of a decent replacement window and can typically be done faster and with less inconvenience.
From years of working on older homes we have developed expertise in window repair and restoration. In addition we have come to appreciate the simplicity, durability, and appearance of older windows.
Masterwork can provide any of the following individual services, tune up your windows, or perform a full window restoration.
Weather proofing – install gaskets and weather stripping materials to prevent air infiltration. Most heat loss from windows is a result of air infiltration around joints etc., not through the glass.
Improving sash glide – clean out excess paint from contact surfaces, and create low friction contact surfaces for a smooth easy glide.
Paint removal – this can range from removal of failed/peeling paint to complete stripping of all paint. This will ensure long-term durable protection while eliminating concerns associated with lead-based paint.
Re-glazing (puttying) glass panes - this can range from re-glazing of failed/loose putty to completely re-glazing the entire window.
Broken glass replacement – this can be done with modern flat glass or wavy/antique glass (either salvaged or newly manufactured).
Sash cord/chain replacement – newer sash cords with braided wire in the middle are available that will last a lifetime.
New Sash locks, sash lifts, opening limiters – we can install hardware that is not only beautiful but works great too.
Damaged wood Repair – depending on the damage and location, wood can be replaced or permanently repaired with high performance wood epoxies.
For virtually every argument that is made for replacement windows, a compelling counter argument can be made as to why a tune up, repair, or full restoration is a much better solution. Please ask Masterwork for a consultation and more details for your window solution.
