Before. Owners requested a painted (faux) marble finish to give weight and distinction to the floor area of this c. 1815 parlor in an antique New England home.
The wide plank flooring was first prepared and painted. We then began to layout the floor in a diagonal pattern.
Marble "tiles" were created using glazes and paints.
Doing every other tile allowed us to maneuver around the room without disturbing the fresh finish.
After the first marble tiles had dried, we completed the marble floor pattern.
The entire floor was protected with 3 coats of polyurethane.
